You own it?

oh and after looking through all of these pikes, i decided that rather then order a specific species online, i'm gunna just wait till i see one at a LFS. You told me about those sp. Cobra's that were a good deal, so i'm guessing some place in lincoln has a few pikes.

thanks.

Sorry to tell you this, but almost all the LFS in Lincoln and Omaha only get in five species of pikes mainly. Crenicichla sveni, Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela', Crenicichla sp. 'xingu I', Crenicichla johanna, and Crenicichla sp. 'belly crawler'. Outa those pikes, Crenicichla johanna and Crenicichla sveni are probably your best bet. Crenicichla sp. 'xingu I' get large, and can be rather aggressive when adults. Also if you get a male it isn't really all that attractive, females are gorgeous though!! ;) Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela' gets HUGE and its kinda drab as an adult, and Crenicichla sp. 'belly crawler' is more of a cave dweller, bottom fish. They are awesome pikes if that is what you are lookin for though! ;) The sp. 'cobras' was a ONE TIME thing, and it took them four years to get them. I think they were a trade in as well. First time I had ever seen a different pike aside from the five i listed above. Not to discourage you or nothing! haha

i almost picked up what i thought at the time was a belly crawler, but after further inspection, it was a venezuela. good thing i didn't pick it up since they get soo big. but it was only $14 so i think it was a decent deal.

i hit up fishworld, the fish store, jungle exotics and aquatics, nothing at all interesting besides a sun cat, then i went to the fish store and they only had the one venezuela in the crenicichla family.

luckily i picked up a mate for my male krib, and a young senegal to fulfill my polypterus needs for now.

Bummer dude, the Fish Store didn't have the FH any more? Or the sp. 'cobras'? They were in the back tank in the Saltwater fish section, upagainst a wall. you really had to look to find them...;). Oh well, best thing to do is keep going back. I love the Fish Store though cuz they are really clean in there. Love their tanks. Prices are decent as well. I believe the Fish Store is the one on 48th right? Well, thats the one i am talkin about anyway...haha

yup one on 48th.

i went to those tanks because somebody said something abot $2 cichlids, then i saw a tank with large bichirs, and they only had 1 pike, a venezuela.

i can't get to lincoln all that often, but when i do i'll deffinatly always check out the fish store.

fishworld wasn't as good, higher prices (although tons of community fish, a ripsaw cat, and a suncat i almost snagged) and didn't have the rarities i want.

jungle exotics and aquatics had an amazing selection of african cichlids, but not much else.

so all in all it was a small disapointment, but it was great finally seeing all of these.

aquapets has had the most knowledgable people there imo, followed by the fish store.

just have to check out petworld, and paradise cove and i'll offically looked at all of the lfs's in NE's east side

Nice. Man, if I was still in Nebraska I would definaetely go with you to hit up the LFS. I used to drive over 100miles each weekend to go and check them out...haha. Gotta be faithful. The people at Fish Store don't really know all that much really. I used to get a kick outa going in there and tellin them scientific names or wriiting them down and seein them give me that blank, confused expression. Aquapets though didn't have a problem with that...;). Definately keep at Aquapets about pikes. If you really want they can get you in almost anything. Trust me, I've gotten uaru, xingu I, sveni, polleni, and a couple of other nice things from them. ;) You just gotta be patient. I was disappointed several, several times I went to them in Lincoln or Omaha. Just gotta be hopeful and sometimes you luck out. BTW, does Fish Store still have those catfish in that 100gal tank in the front to the right once you come in the door? One of those cats, the red tailed x pim. hybrid is mine...haha...gave it to them and they can't get rid of it. Probably pretty big by now.

nope, didn't see any big cats.

and it was quite an adventure. i felt kinda bad becuase after looking through fishworld and not finding anything i was looking for, i had to ask the guy for directions to the fish store.....lol suprised he didn't like lead me to iowa or something.

i overheard the people at the fish store, and they seemed they knew a bit more about fish then the guy at fishworld, or the people at everywhere besides aquapets.

i'll keep a look out for any "rare" pikes i come across here in NE.
