Pinima wild Caught

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Probably wasn't wild caught then, that or it was already on prepared food when you first got it.
Lmao you must be new. Every bass I get is wild caught that’s why I can provide you with the catch locations. All my Pinima have been out of Rio tapajos and Bahia/Santarem. It’s not hard to pellet train bass most take bloodworms from the jump and easily take bloodworm soaked pellets a couple days later or fd krill then pellets. Never took me longer than a week and a half to train them

All wild caught ones I have gotten have required live food for a week or so until I could get them onto prepared food, eventually getting them onto pellets

You probably gave in too soon, most of the time they come in they take a day or two to settle by day 3 they should be eating prepared no problem, feeding them live from the jump just makes it harder on ya, I’ve always offered bloodworms the first couple days to get them comfortable and to recognize me not as a threat but their provider. That being said every sub species of cichla is different some being more stubborn than the other.

I gave them 2 days to get settled in and they still only ate live, a lot of them wouldn't even eat live food when I was there, most of the time I'd come into the store the next day and the feeders are gone, they wouldn't eat them during the day.

I’ve never had this problem. Kelberi were the most stubborn to train and they took a week and a half. It’s mostly patience in routine.

I only had Kelberi a few times, most of the ones I got were orinoco, ocellaris, temensis, and azul I've had fish that have held out for over a month when I only offered them pellets, eventually I gave in and gave frozen food with pellets jammed into it, the fish (pike cichlid) ground up the food and spat out the pellet. I had the pike cichlid for close to 5 years and he still wouldn't eat pellets, no matter how hard I tried, I eventually gave in and decided that if he was healthy and happy, it didn't matter what he ate, I eventually rehomed him and the owner kept him for 4 years until he died and the owner said he couldn't get him onto pellets either.

It’s basically stepping stones. Bloodworms for 1-3” fish then to krill/pellets by soaking in bloodworms then onto sticks that resemble krill if that’s what they take for example hikari carnisticks

Thanks K krichardson They absolutely are haha. Idk why they’re not more popular in the hobby everyone seems to be phasing towards kelberi and orinos maybe because the growth rates and max sizes are more manageable?
