pink color on belly ? Endli health question....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so it's actually a wide area of pink from pectorals to tail? at first reading the description i was thinking a line.

it could be irritation or it could be infection. yeah as mentioned remove any sharp object. add salt and do water change and see if it gets any better.

is it losing any slime coat on the belly? do you see red streaks lining the scales? Do you know how long it's been like this and if it has gotten redder during that time?

Thanks for the reply. Doesn't seem to be losing any slime coat. No red streaks above his belly. I think it has been this way maybe a week now that I have seen it. Not sure if its gotten redder doesn't look like it.

Doing a 60% change tonight then slowly adding the salt should be a standard dose by the morning.

Thanks so much for all your help guys I really appreciate it. He's my baby. My first Endli :( I got three now but I grew him since he was 6" and skinny to a fat 13" and growing still obviously.

Did a 75% change with pre dechlorinated water. They all had a healthy silverside/krill feeding. Seem to act normal so far.....

bump , any more input ?

Patience is a virtue. If they're eating then it should be ok. Just watch the feeding cuz you don't want to foul up the water.

I did another 60% change tonight after removing the lava rock (I added PVC which they seem to like) I also have my vortex xl running so hopefully that can help if there are any parasites or whatever that the turbo twist UV isn't pick up...

and make note of the pink area and see if it's decreasing, staying the same, etc.
Thanks bro! seems to be the same. I replaced all the rock (even the Zebra rock) with PVC) and they seem tentative but seem to be doing well.

Is anyone sure that salt would help this situation ? Does it help a fish's slime coat ?

Yes, but not too much....I love all my bichirs especially my 12" Endli whom I've had since he was like 2". So it is normal to love your fish IMO/IME

I normally use half dose salt and half dose parasite clear. I have had a lot of luck with this treatment as long as the symptoms are caught early.
