This is true. My female was really small when I got her, probably around 1.5-2 inches. She only laid 20 eggs her first time.

bummer dude, jsut wait and maybe get a bigger tank. They will get it right eventually. My pair old pair messed up their first 4 spawns before I got any fry alive after a week.

I still cant get mine to breed.

ph is 7.2 nitrate 0 ammonia 0 temp 80, top floating plants, tried covering the tank, 3 blue danio's as dithers .

i have a pink male and a normal female convict. mine laid eggs inside my clay pot and they moved the eggs to a pit the male dug. heres some ideas for you guys.
get 3-4 small smooth round rocks and group them together for your male to dig a pit.
increase water temp to 82-84F
i feed mine crushed brine shrimp and they love it.

that should do it. im no expert but i got mine to breed doing these things. mine are in a 10 gallon tank. btw.
