Are these B. filamentosum? I saw them listed on ebay. If they are filamentosum, what locale? (Peru, Brazil, Suriname)

Definitely a real filamentosum.
I haven't yet sorted out the localities. Hopefully someone else can help with that.

Agree with the filamentosum ID. Not capapretum for sure. I don't think we have a firmed up knowledge of the locale differences, esp. in smaller fish. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.
One thing I vaguely remember is that Brazil filas tend to have the spotting in the rear half when small.
Another thing is Suriname lose the spots much earlier than Peru, usually by 1.5'-2'.
That's all off the top of my head.
There are some filas from Guyana too in the hobby.
A while ago I created a thread asking those who owned these fish to state their observations (for Chicx's write up). Got almost no feedback, except from
GiantFishKeeper101
but his observations, while interesting and worthwhile, have not been confirmed or refuted by anyone yet. Perhaps the time has come to resurrect the thread.

I think I'd like that. With the major problems of the forum mostly taken care of at this point, I'm really feeling the itch to start writing again

It's B. filamentosum. Amazonas (Peru/Brazil) variants. Suriname have more weird looking head like the Suneo character in Doraemon

Filamentosum.
In juveniles, if the spots are about the size of the eyes or smaller, fila; if the spots are 2x the size of the eyes or larger, capa.

Which one tho? Peru or Brazil? I dont think its a suri cause of the tip of the snout does not look like a suri
