I have 2 RBP with 2 Oscars, 2 common plecos, 2 raphaels and 1 stripped knifefish

I started with the 2 P and 1 O in a 30 gal, they were all pretty small, I knew from the get go that I needed a bigger thank.

I moved to a 100 gal, by the time I moved them, they were already too big for the 30 gal, my girldfriend got me a baby Oscar, so I put in the 30 gal. Along with the KF.

I wanted to move the small O into the big tank, but I was afraid that the other oscar or the P's will rip it appart, so I waited until it was a bit bigger.

After about 3 months, I threw the smaller oscar in, I was ready to rescue him with a net, just in case. surprisingly even though he is 3 inch smaller than the pirahnas or the other oscar, he actually is the one that chases the RBP's around.

The plecos and the raphaels are pretty much ignored by everyone, and the kf, just hides all day under a piece of wood.

Hi, just wanted to tell everyone how I just stuck my foot in my mouth with this last post...

A few hours after I posted the above, my oscar got its scaly ass handed to him by one of my RBP.

He is alive and eating, but I have to put him in a hospital tank with medication to avoid infection, from his lower lip getting almost ripped off...

Well I knew from the begining to never put an Oscar with Red Bellies. That's y my Red Bellies are in a smaller 75gal & my Oscar controls my 180gal and ya sure he's a 12" & my Piranha are only 3"-5", still somthing u can't mix

Im pretty sure lot of people mix them without incident, this was the first time in 6 months something like this happened. The problem was the RBP are way bigger than the oscar, I still have another one in there, that is bigger than the one that got hurt, and he's doing fine.

Then not everyone has aggressive Piranha like my 3, I had a pleco that was the same size as ur little Oscar u took out, but my pleco was left with only his skeleton in the tank. U got lucky enough to save ur Oscar. Idk if mine are so aggressive b/c they're a group of 3, but so far I can't keep any fish with them.

At the moment I have my guys in with a clown pleco who may as well not even be there. He is undetectable.

One day, ONE day I want to own Piranhas. I live in Arkansas and the state next to me Tennessee it's legal.

A pleco? Wow, I always thought that armor of theirs will pretty much make them piranha proof, mine are pretty much ignored. I figured my oscar got beaten because O's are the type of fish that never back down from a fight.

In some cases other fish do work with piranha's( usually with reds) but you never know how long it will last.
I also think that having somewhat aggressive tankmates like oscars and other cichlid types can sometimes put undue stress on piranhas which are naturally very skittish.
I do not recomend tankmates with piranhas, especially with serras
I witnessed a utube video of a 3in convict constantly harassing 8-9in reds.
It was kinda funny to see but but if they were mine I would have removed them.
