^ Good deal.

Reduced feeding might piss them off more. You know your own fish, but if I didn't feed mine on time they would, on occasion, start eating each other.

BTW I recognized that rock structure from your youtube video I saw last month. Made me miss my RBP.

extra feedings seem to make them greedy but i also dropped the temp from 72 to 68 so that seemed to help to

72 should be fine imo, 68 is a little chilly for the p's haha. glad that its mellowing out.

Text book answer: anywhere between 68 and 72 is not okay. Between 78 and 82 is closer to optimal for RBP.

Real life answer: Objectively, your RBP look healthy. The lower temperature of 72 that you keep your initial RBPs in, combined with what you've described as their passive behavior, is testament to lower temperatures easing aggression. And if they've been healthy in 72, they may be okay in 68. A 4 degree switch might be pretty hefty though.

Bottom line, if they are hanging out closer to the bottom of the tank right now and looking sick, kick it back up to 70.

wow last time i cranked my temp to 80 my fish were at the top gasping for air higher temps steal oxygen

The amount of oxygen in the water depends more on surface agitation (gas exchange) than temperature. Breaking surface tension through upward pointed power heads, HOB filters, OR air stones is plenty compensation for higher temperature.

Obviously I'm not recommending raising the temp, your Ps are clearly doing well at where you have them and you clearly know what your doing. But I kept mine at 79 and they did well, but they were aggressive to each other if they missed a meal. I ran a sump, and a bunch of air stones for decoration, so the water had plenty of gas exchange time.

To be clear, when I do get Ps again, Based on what I've learned here, I will definitely try closer to 70.
