Ehh, it was taking a while to do anything, my temp dropped daily...86-->79-->74-->70, but it's up to 73 now.

You aren't adjusting it at all are you? I was having trouble with mine when i switched to a new one, i'd go anywhere from 76 and 93 (did an emegency water change to lower it). I finally got it straighten out when i just turned it to the lowest setting and left it. It's been a stable 80 since. It was me adjusting it back and fourth that caused the crazy fluxation.

I guess it took a while for the heater to actually warm the tank up, the temperature's going up slowly now, up to 74.

i bought 2 crayfish last week for maintenance purposes, everything was fine. came home from class tonight to find an empty shell at the bottom of the tank. good thing he was only $2.99

They're 19.99 at mine, too bad the crayfish that city folks catch in the local river won't work...well maybe for food?

Howdy,

The chances for surviving a power outage also depend on your filtration: A canister goes anaerobic within hours and pumps out toxic decomposition products when the power comes back on a day later. A wet/dry is more forgiving.
