Link made me mad.. obvious fighter.. Nasty..

Look, all I am saying that thats how a real APBT looks like at big size. And I am not saying they should be fighters, but the breed wont exist as it does today if it were nlot for contests. And, while again I am not saying lets all do it, their culling and breeding are alot stricter than show dogs, and if they all took the pride real dogmen did in breeding programs alot of breeds would benefit. I myslef hunt, and my dogs get scarred...but if you saw his pedigree and his scars you would lable him a fighter. But I belive working dogs shhould work, and be bred to such standards.

I say he's a fighter because of his pedigree and his body condition.
Not saying you support it at all ;)

The only way I'd lable a dog as a fighter is if I saw him with another dog, saw his pedigree, and got to watch his daily routines.

Mine has scars, because she is clumsy and had lived with 2 nasty cats as a puppy, Fight scars look different than scars from a dog pushing through bushes or hunting hogs(or whatever your guys hunt) in my experience with fighters and those who are just doing their jobs or, in my girl's case, being dead clumsy and making our pom mix mad as well :D

I saw quite a few people go by a male pittie and mumble about him being a fighter, after a while I went to look myself, he had scars, yes, but they were from an old embedded collar, something that looked like a burn, and scars on his face from being in a cage at the SPCA and constantly rubbing his face on the bars. He also had cropped ears, which to some makes them look mean.

Now, if your pups are at fighting weight(ribs and sometimes backbone showing), have the telltale scars up and down both front legs, face, neck, missing lip pieces, and you had things like a breeding stand, break sticks(unless you hunt hogs), and ect. I may get a bit suspicious, but I wouldn't outright say you were a fighter.
Don;t take offense, the picture of that dog just got me a bit cross ;)

he just had his 13th birthday last month.

A staffordshire I rescued just died at 13.. he was unhealthy, and rather neglected his whole life though.

Have you read the page on villa lobos about LA the 16-17 yo pittie?
It's a nice story, too.

i probably will be interested after Otis passes.. i thought about getting a pup for him to raise and teach how to be the big bad pit bull here, but i already have 6 dogs.. adding another one is just counter productive.

maybe if someone close to me desperately needed to find a home for an all white baby girl pit bull.. i would make an exception.. lol

Well, even though his pedigree does have fighters in it, thats often times the best dogs for any type of work. They are bred sounder than any dog. But i hear ya. Btw, breeding stands are not just for fighters, some females, even am staffs I have seen wont let you breed them at all.

wow.. i almost got drawn into the breeding thing.. i'm going to unsubcribe to this thread before i get in trouble..
