Pitbulls attack mother, kills child(4 years old)

What I find funny is the people here defending pit bulls, blame the owners for lack of training. Why should a dog have to be trained NOT to kill people?...yet the same people consider these dogs to be loving peaceful animals.

Any animal that has to be trained NOT to attack or kill people has no business in the general public's hands.

Do should we outlaw cows and horses too? What about cars? Cows have killed 20 people while cows and horses have killed over 75 people. If you want to eliminate everything dangerous go lock yourself in a room without food and water. The food and water are dangerous too. They've killed 2,500 people per year too. Why do we even bother with theses animals when we haven't even perfected eating yet?

Let's see link that the numbers you gave were cases of animals going out of there way to kill humans when they were minding there own business. There's a reason why I can't go to the animal shelter and adopt a lion or Tiger and bring it home.

Part of being a responsible dog owner is providing a secure area for your animal. Secondly any dog should be trained and socialized, that's were the owner is at fault.

What these dogs did isn't considered normal pitbull behavior.

Do you really think if these dogs were raised in a different situation with a different owner the outcome would of been the same?

The cow one is no different from the dog ones. No one is going to go stand in a cow pasture for the hell of it generally you are going out to get work done.

its not even that the dog has to be trained not to kill people. anyone saying that doesnt know much about dog training or dog behavior.
the dog has to be brought up with respect and mostly positive reinforcement. and this isnt bred specific.
if youre going to hit your dog or constantly yell at the dog or use any kind of fear conditioning, youre going to end up with an aggressive dog. and it will be aggressive towards all people. i shouldnt have to explain why.
not too many are born "aggressive". and the ones that are born with temperament problems are the result of irresponsible breeding. so even then, its still the fault of the person breeding brothers with mothers who were bred from sisters and fathers.
i already said that a lot of good, responsible dog breeders will have the dog temperament tested before they using it to produce offspring.
but pits are treated as a cash crops so people breed the crap out of them. and will go to ridiculous lengths to do so. there was a woman that went into the pet store once to buy a muzzel and chain because the female was not letting the male mount her.... true story. these are the people producing these problem dogs.
ballin asked about whether the nonhuman aggressive thing was owner specific. the link doesnt answer that question. however, its more likely to selectively breed the dog to be non aggressive towards all humans than one particular human. it seems like much a much simpler process. it also makes more sense to make it non aggressive to all humans because during these dogs fights there is plenty of people around. when a lot of animals go in fight mode, they want to fight everything. so while its only the handler holding the dog, the spectators are still at risk.

Killed by a cow. Not the way to go.

And to W Warborg , pit bulls don't need to be trained to not attack people. They need to be trained like any other head strong, stubborn breed. With positive reinforcement and praise and reward techniques.

calm down killer, dang, at least I provided a source. Someone asked for one and I provided one. I call bs on your claim of pit Bulls origins until a source is provided.

Wiki is a good place for quick reference actually. They verify their stuff and if it's wrong they'll correct it. With so much passion from you, you should go to wiki and have it corrected then

Pit Bull Myth:
The term Pit comes from the Pit Bull's history with fighting other dogs.

Pit Bull Fact:
While it is true that the term Pit came from placing breeds of certain types into a literal Pit for sport the sport the "Pit" actually got its name from was however was "Ratting" where rats were thrown in a literal "Pit" along with a dog to see how many rats the dog could kill. The term Pit did not come from fighting with other dogs.

well im not 100% correct either it seems but i was not too far from it, i will admit some of
my statements are wrong after having confirmed the facts.

You're dead wrong for blaming a woman and toddler for WALKING DOWN A STREET AND BEING ATTACKED BY 3 STRAY DOGS. That's all the story we have. There is no walking by a house. Walking by a fence. Just 3 dogs killed toddler after they dragged it under the fence. I personally think anyone who's okay with a CHILD being murdered by 3 dogs should be locked in a room with the 3 dogs and see who comes out alive.

i didnt say nor do i think it's ok as to what happened to the child but if the child's mother
had protected her child and threw herself over her child & shielded him the child would
have lived and would have most likely succumbed to only minor injuries.
