Pitbulls attack mother, kills child(4 years old)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What I find funny is the people here defending pit bulls, blame the owners for lack of training. Why should a dog have to be trained NOT to kill people?...yet the same people consider these dogs to be loving peaceful animals.

Any animal that has to be trained NOT to attack or kill people has no business in the general public's hands.

pit bull is a breed of dog, a animal, a pet which the owner's are liable for & should be
responsible to properly socialize it, train it, care for it, and guide the animal to become a
respected and loved member of the family. as to all dogs regardless of what type of breed
they are. even fish we hobbyist keep are trained to eat pellets or other source of food besides
other live fish so we can reduce or not have any other casualties among our collection. this
is also a sort of training to "NOT ATTACK OR KILL" is it not? and since you feel the way you
do i guess you should get rid of all your pets, fish, tanks and etc etc. since you are part of the
"general public" am i right?

"Any animal that has to be trained NOT to attack or kill people has
no business in the general public's hands"

we people are animals, a mammal called homo sapiens & as children we are
taught or "trained" and told not to murder and rape among other bad things with
the consequences being incarcerated or worst case scenario the death penalty.

all dogs or animals kept as pets or domestic animals are taught or "trained" through
proper socialization, training and positive reinforcement so events such as this mauling
does not occur. doesnt matter if its a dog, cat, fish or reptile its the same...

i didnt say nor do i think it's ok as to what happened to the child but if the child's mother
had protected her child and threw herself over her child & shielded him the child would
have lived and would have most likely succumbed to only minor injuries.

3 dogs vs a women? Go wrestle with your dogs and reconsider the scenario. Im willing to bet had the mother got to ground level it'd be 2 people dead instead of 1. You are so overly passionate about your dogs that you're blindly casting blame where ever you can and stopped using common sense. such as saying fish tanks are dangerous to a women and their 4 year old toddler.....

What these dogs did isn't considered normal pitbull behavior.
Hello; The behavior of these dogs may not seem normal, but does seem to fit in with the statistics showing they are responsible for a much greater percentage of fatal attacks (over 50% ) than other dogs. This also does fit in with what I understand to be "pack behavior." At around 6% of the dog population and over 50% of fatal attacks for the type of dog, their attack behavior has to be considered at least expected more that any other type of dog.

are born with temperament problems are the result of irresponsible breeding. so even then, its still the fault of the person breeding
Hello; Fine, we trace the breeding back to people. The dogs still do the killing and mauling and these poorly bred dogs apso make up a portion of the general pit bull population. These poorly bred dogs are among us. While I can tell a pit bull type by looking, I cannot spot a poorly bred that way.

They need to be trained like any other head strong, stubborn breed.
Hello; This makes sense. However the larger number of pit bull owners I have known do not spend the time or effort. Most have no concept of how to properly train a dog. They get the dogs anyway and treat them like any other dog they have owned with little training.

threw herself over her child & shielded him the child would
have lived and would have most likely succumbed to only minor injuries.
Hello; Did you read the story. The mother was attacked and mauled by one of the dogs while the other dogs dragged the child away. It is my understanding that she did what she could. This is another time you have used this ploy to deflect the blame from the dogs onto a victim. I do not buy it and hope others see thru it as well.
In your imaginary world an attack by multiple pit bulls may result in only minor injuries, but in this world such an attack is very serious and often fatal.
Your irrational statements ruin your credibility in my eyes
.

no you did.nt!!

There are some unusual circumstances with this case. You have a pregnant female, that has undergone a hormonal change during pregnancy and can cause aggression issues termed "maternal aggression", this can be prevented by spaying.

Also these dogs were showing signs of predatory aggression. I'm sure these dogs had history of killing small animals and worked their way up larger game.

Allowing these dogs to form a pack can lead to "pack aggression". If only one dog had escaped, likely this attack wouldn't of happened or at least consequences not as great. This could of been prevented by spaying/neutering, opposed to letting them breed out of control.

I just want to highlight, some mistakes were made on the part of this dog handler. I think if this guy had been raising lab mixes, the outcome would have been the same.

lab mixes. what does that mean. lab mixes of what? I do not see labs acting like that.

will a ill kept lab or any dog bite? sure, but these dogs do not just bite, they rip people apart. kids, old folks what ever is a easy target. this happens over and over again, as i said i do not be leave all pits are bad, but the numbers warren it enough to say they are not a dog to be kept.

pops pops
You're of the stand point dogs are born with temperament/behavior, i'm off the belief dogs are reflection of their trainers and life experiences.

Granted to properly train a dog, the majority of training/socializing takes place in the first 6 weeks of life.
