Pitbulls attack mother, kills child(4 years old)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The fact is that if you want a dog like a pit bull or any "dangerous" breed you're going to have to put forth the effort in the dog. It won't be fun at the time but it will be well worth it in the long run. I adopted my Shepard from the no kill shelter she was born in at three years old. She wasn't socialized and had quite a few issues Including being unsocialized around other dogs. We put in quite a bit of work and almost had her put down several times but always couldn't do it. We now have a "success story" on the trainers website and a great family member.

Dogs and kids are both products of their environments. It will take work but you can change their behavior.

That said she has never initiated a fight or hurt a dog badly but has had a few skirmishes that she took sent some fur flying because she thought I was in danger.

sorry I do not trust the breed. nothing going change my mind on it, nor do suspect i am going to change yours. :)
I can understand that. The blame falls squarely on the owner as it is his or her responsibility for keeping the dogs secured no matter the breed.

Even in modern dog fighting(not a act I condone at all), the opponent will physically handle and inspect the other persons dog for foul play; so there is a fair amount of human contact.

All I know about modern fighting is that it is not legal and they fight them to the death.

Pitbulls were bred to fight other dogs, not to attack humans; in fact in dog fighting rings there were/are humans in the ring any aggression towards humans isn't tolerated and those dogs would of been culled

Hello; This exactly. We apparently are not culling enough now a days. Too many with the goal of keeping all such dogs alive. I do agree with you on this in that the ones that show aggression need to be culled. Perhaps with enough such culling the problems we currently witness would be much reduced

I guess I should clarify the term, bullmastif are great dogs, this is not a pit bull.

Here is one of my 25% Pitbull x German Short Haired Pointer X Plott Hound X Catahoula, one of the dogs that would be put down because of her breed. A dog with no aggression issues completely socialized, great with children and other dogs alike.
