never saw 20/20 thing you speaking of and take medias word for crap. the debate can go on for ever, i only ask that you look up the numbers.

I wasn't directing that comment directly towards you or anyone else on this forum.

I would bet most dog owners with violent history, have dogs with violent behavior; is what I'm getting at.
I'm not speaking of dog to dog aggression which is a breed characteristic but dog to human aggression

I am under the opinion that the 2 can not be separated in this breed.

again, there is a dark and unpredictable side to these dogs.

Hello; This is my understanding and the experience of my next door neighbor. They had a PB from a pup that attacked a family member. Also before the "blame the owner" stuff starts, my neighbors have had several dogs and are good with them. Including a large German Shepard with no problems.

Any responsible APBT owner wouldn't allow unsupervised interaction with a unfamiliar dog.
Hello; that you make such a statement tells me that you are aware of how dangerous the breed is.

APBT is limited to a 20/20 special they saw or some other media headline.
Hello; I never saw that particular tv show. I do have knowledge of a couple of PB incidents and pay attention to the reported maulings. In one of these PB threads a few years ago I posted links to sites with statstics about fatal maulings (Including the CDC) In one particular study over a few years the PB type was responsible for over 50% of all the fatal maulings.

the owner and how much violent crime have they been involved in, if any?

Hello; Other than a ploy to deflect the blame onto an owner, what can this show?

Pitbulls were bred to fight other dogs, not to attack humans; in fact in dog fighting rings there were/are humans in the ring any aggression towards humans isn't tolerated and those dogs would of been culled

My point is, this a learned behavior; not something inherent of the breed.

can be or not, again this my opinion as stated, this does not make it real or the norm. but is the reason I will never own one. i have had large labs, large German short haired. great dogs. dogs i could trust. they barked when something, growl if felt threatened. pits do not growl on the whole and they do not bark on the whole, I have seen them attack with no warning, tail wagging one minute kill you the next.

That is how it was in the early days of pit bull fighting but nowadays it seems that some people like them to be as vicious as possible.....not that I'm saying this was the case with this owner.

sorry I do not trust the breed. nothing going change my mind on it, nor do suspect i am going to change yours. :)
