So water fresh from the tap with chlorine flows into your tank with fish in it? Any problems with that?

Anyone who uses a Python does it this exact way. From the faucet to the tank. You just dose the tank beforehand with Prime.

No. I dose with prime/de-chlorinator and the filters distribute it while I refill.

Chlorinated water won't do much to fish. The problem with chlorine in the water is that it kills your beneficial bacteria.

That's not true. I once forgot to dose the dechlor and killed four fry I rescued and moved to the "safe" tank.

that video is retarded, the jets they are using are way to small to fill the tanks, and if they did it sequentially they'd have more water pressure and refill the tanks in 1/8th the time.

When I have a setup like this you guys will see whats up.

Green water is typically caused by having ammonia, which is caused by your bacteria dying or your ammonia output spiking (ex. rotting fish somewhere.) It can also be caused by the tank getting too much light.

You have sh¡t in your gravel? That's a problem.
1. Gravel blows. Remove gravel, replace with a 20-grit pool filter sand or other medium-grain sand.
2. Waste should never accumulate on the bottom. If it does, you have too little flow, period.
3. If **** in your gravel is accumulating faster than you can manage it, you NEED to stop overfeeding so much.

Clear the green water with a UV sterilizer or a blackout.
Here's what I mean by blackout:
Add airstones and/or surface flow. You may have oxygen problems during a blackout.
Cover the entire tank with something COMPLETELY OPAQUE.
Leave it like that for at least 3 days. NO peeking, NO feeding.

A UV sterilizer will help keep your tank healthy in general, so I recommend it over the blackout.

Well that's weird.. I never had problems of fish dying from chlorine water... During the first few months of fish keeping I didnt even know there was such thing as a de-chlorinator..

the reason for the small jet is for off gassing.

off gassing? im not sure if i understand unless you mean its highly air-rated to bond with the chemicals in the water so it becomes pure?

I have about 400 convict fry living in chlorinated water right now. And they have been for more than a month. Since they hatched. Chlorine concentrations are far to low to kill fish, even fry.
