Do not listen to this advice. Planted tanks at higher light levels often need quite high levels of fertilizers to keep nutrient levels high enough to maintain healthy growth of plants.pcfriedrich;1882148;1882148 said:keeping plants in your aquarium is good for the gravel, because it helps draw SOME of the organic waste produced by the fish and uneaten food (this fertilizes the plants, and helps remove some of the toxins from the water). plants are also good because they keep the oxygen levels higher.
Hope this helps and - just in case you were thinking it - do not add plant fertilizer to your tank or gravel.
If you want to fertilize the gravel, there are two options. 1) Buy a plant substrate that will contain many nutrients, but not the macronutrients. 2) Use root tabs to fertilize specific plants.ryanc2106;1869096;1869096 said:for my 60 gallon i read somewhere that keeping plants in a tank with medium light that is best to fertleize the gravle?
