platinum RTC?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i was just saying in serten fish like the silver arrow were you can selectively breed the higher contrast silvers to produce a platinum color i can see this as well as the pic of the tig im guessing it is a product of years or breeding or just realy strong lighting because if you look by its tail it kinda starts to fad out to the whiter pigment but for cat fish i have yet to see a pic that dident just look like a lusy. just my opinion if any of the big time breeders want to chim in id love to here from you and sorry if this is thread high jacking i just thought it kinda fit in here

No worries the more info the better :)

i'v seen awesome pics of juvis. these cats really captured me man. kinda like love at first sight... lol. i just cannot find any adult pics anywhere

look through neoprodigy's threads, youll find pics of a pretty decent-sized one.

Just yesterday I found a site that said that this is due to some kind of condition, I think amelanism (probably the same as the fella in your avatar), but not albino, no red eye. So anyway they said that in RTC this fades as they get older, so that might be reason for only juvi pic's. There is also a member on here who has a TSN that went white/yellow but it wasn't a small fish and it was bought as a normal colour TSN.

Finally found the link I was talking about.

Here's an Qoute:

Planetcatfish.com
"Identification

An unmistakable species - the only identification woes come when examining young hybrids which appear in the hobby from time to time. The amelanistic form (absence of pigmentation but no albino pink eyes) is only found in young fish and only lasts for a few weeks. The fish revert to their normal colouration thereafter."

Then why the huge price tag? If I spent 15 or 20K on a fish just to watch it turn back into a RTC I think I would be pretty upset.

Its amel(or albino, means the same thing). If it was luecy it would have no pigment at all, only black eyes. Beautifil fish!

I am not sure how amelanism works in fish, but how can it be that someone has an adult amel RTC when they change back as adults?
2 seperate mutations maybe?
