but any way you could add the fish slowly to ease the process?

Okay, the only fish I have to add immediately is the oscar because the old filters, as I mentioned, are coming from the tank he's in now. I could add the convict and GT later if needed.

I'm adding two fully mature filters (the 350gph and 150gph Whispers). Do you think this will cycle well enough to add fish immediately? If not I'll have to do some thinking because those filters are what's on the Oscar's tank right now.
I could also add some mature ceramic media from a Fluval canister filter I have if that would help.

Indeed, the tank will be fully matured as soon as they're placed on it, however once the FX5 is added the bacteria will probably recolonize inside it as it's going to be doing the most work. This shouldn't cause any problems with your water parameters though so you're good to go.

What I do to seed my Cannister filters is I usually have a couple aquaclear 110s running on tanks with nothing but Biomax and a little filter foam pad underneath. Then I just add my Matured Biomax and mix it up a bit and with in a day or two my filter is mature. Think about adding additional HOBs with biomedia to your tanks just in case you get or have to set up new tanks. I have also used Bio-Spira and had my 125 cycled in 2 days with NO ammonia spike or anything. I only mixed in a littl bio max as well ,but if your ever in doubt about your tanks nitrifying cycle just add Bio-Spira great product.

get some red hook silver dollars for dithers they look great but keep in mind silver dollars will probably eat any plant you put in the tank

If you have cycled filters, you should be able to instantly cycle the new tank and add all fish immediately. That's the way i've done it for 20+ years with no problem. Looking forward to seeing the tank.

And Oscars will rip up any plants. ;)

Dithers are pointless unless you want more fish. Dithers are 'designed' to spread out the aggression in a tank. It seems quite clear that none of your fish have any aggression problems.

Filtration:
- Fluval FX5 (buying discounted but new for $180)
- Whisper Power Filters 330gph and 150gph (added from an older aquarium to cycle the tank)

FX5 for $180??!
Mind if I ask where can I go about getting this deal?

As far as cycling the tank, IMO since your filters are matured already,
I would just add water, let it run by the FX5 a couple hours to remove
all chlorine then turn on the mature filters so that chlorine doesn't kill
the beneficial bacteria then definitely add fish. Post some pics.
:D

Something to think about re: the dithers/schoolers...your oscar might eat the GD's so silver dollars might be your best bet. Red hooks look great but maybe a little big for your tank.

why don't u put in the tank a couple of Severum and a couple of mild temperament cichlids like Uaru??

a couple is always better than a single specimen IMHO.
