lmfao, this made my day XD hmmm, think about it... without hybrids, our hobby would have died decades ago, but thanks to the blood parrot (despite its horrific traits, cant help but like them because they make beautiful flowerhorn when crossed) our hobby was resurrected and as a result, we are able to conserve hundreds of species because of the interest in the hobby. before the BP, the only real interesting fish were goldfish, koi, guppies, and a few select cichlids. without BP's, we wouldnt have Flowerhorn, or many of the other pure species that we keep nowadays because nobody would have cared enough to find them in the wild and even (some) risk their lives to collect the ancestors of the fish swimming happily in your tank now.
just thought i would put in my own 2 cents. oh, and thanks to a single flowerhorn that i brought in to my school on my sophomore year, South Plantation High School now has a thriving aquaculture program. (it's been 4 + years since then) now they have over 5000 gallons of aquariums and fish, breeding anything from african cichlids and domestic strains of livebearers, to endangered species of goodieds that NO LONGER EXIST IN THE WILD. haha, i dare you to try to get wild collected Ameca splendens
AND got several dozen young adults into the hobby. What can you say to that!?
I sincerely appreciate you making this post, it gave me something to do for the past half hour
THANKS TO HYBRIDS, WE HAVE TODAY'S THRIVING AQUARIUM HOBBY!
