PLEASE HELP!!! Geos dying...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, the last of the smaller ones is now starting to lose buoyancy, and 2nd largest doesn't look too good.

Anyone? If this hurts your eyes, imagine what it does to me!!:irked:

Went to my lfs when I got off work, and all they had was tetra fungus guard, and melafix, and pimafix. I decided to go with pimafix along with melafix. Let's see what happens. The last of the smaller Altifrons is pretty much gone. All I have left is my 2 big guys, 1 of which looks horrible(below). I'm getting really frustrated that nobody knows what this is!!

My opinion..... not biological.

It looks like chemical burns to me. I think you have some sort of chemical in your tank water. Something was sprayed in the house, near the house or something and its now in your water. (Herbicides, fungicides, insecticides... in the yard, house or neighboring farm... a flea bomb dropped in the house, something was just painted and now there are paint fumes.....) The list of options is huge....

Again, this is my opinion.... I would do MASSIVE water changes.... start doing daily 70%, or even 2 or 3 x daily. Keep up the salt with each water change. And most importantly get BRAND new activated carbon into every orifice of your filters. Change the carbon out daily.

your geos look like they may have a severe case of chilodenlla. they pretty much look the way my fish did. i used malachete green to cure worked great two 3 day doses and they were good. before i used the malachete green i lost about six fish after using it everyone had a full recovery

Could be. One of my back rooms was painted last week. But none of the other fish in this tank, or any other tank in my house are affected. And this tank is the furthest from the room painted. I was not home for 2 nights before I came home and noticed them like this. I live in an apartment building, so it may be possible that another apartment was bombed, and it leaked into the room the tank is in. I did a 50% wc yesterday, and a 25% this morning, and they seem to only worsen after them. I was thinking maybe it was something in my tap, but again why are none of the other tanks affected?

have u put any snails or live food u caught yourself in the tank this can bring in microscopic parasites.

No. Only live food they get is earthworms.
