Hi i really need your advice on what to do!

this is how it all began

Last night i got a second hand 4ft tank and a bunch of filters, heaters, pumps, lights etc, but it used to have turtles in so i had to clean and sanitize everything ready for my fish to go in.

And about 5 mins ago i had just finished so i picked up the tank ready to take inside but because of the complete idiot that i am :nilly: i triped and cracked a bottom corner of the tank onto the wall:nilly::mad::cry: .

My first thoughts where :swear:ihow could i have done that. but then i thought it might not be all bad and i might be able to fix, i have no idea how but still i might be able to. i know MFK will help!:)

so anyway here are some pics please tell if its is repairable and how i can fix it or have i completly ruined it.

THANKS in advance.

I think its either complete doofus or clutz but not really an idiot. Looks bad. Might be new tank shopping bad.

Gee I'm glad I never did anything like that :nilly:.

I've repaired several like that, but I can't tell if the fracture line on yours is curving back to the edge or not.

1). Replace the glass, not very hard or expensive and good experience (makes you more aware of your surroundings :D ).

2). Silicone in a piece of glass 5" x the height of the tank and make that the back of the tank.

3). Use a automotive windshield (windscreen) crack repair kit.

I strongly suggest # 1, but have used the others many times without failure, but I had hands on with the tanks so I could see exactly what was going on.

P.S. If you could find another similar tank with the same broken side you could put the two together and have one great tank.

hi everyone and thanks dr joe, for number 1 would i be able to use a sheet of acrylic because its cheaper and easier for me to get, and for number 2 i am not exactly sure where abouts you mean to silicone the pice of glass would it just be over the damaged area (inside the tank or outside) could you maybe draw a diagram.
and for number 3 will this do the job

Can't use acrylic :(, silicone won't stick properly.

#2... 5" vertical piece of glass on the inside.

#3 ... Can't tell how the fracture is going or if it will move, in the pix. From what I can see I would try it ($12) (you may have to draw a vacuum from the backside to draw it into the crack completely, and test outdoors of course.
