im trying to find a heater so i can try to keep it stable

Grab 2x 300 watt. put one at each end of the tank. They will also come in handy when you are ready to upgrade to larger tank since 100gal is not reccomended to keep a jardini in for a long period of time.

Good idea. See, there needs to be more people like you on MFk! Is there a suggested brand to buy? And let's say during the day when the temp rises, will I have to unplug the heater or will it automatically shut off?

No the thermostat controls the temperature, so it automatically turns on and off.
Any brand heater will do. Just use two of them one at each end of the tank. Set 1 heater 1 degrees farenheight or 1/2 degrees celcius less than the other. 200-300watt x2 will be fine.
You could use one eheim jaegar on your tank 300w.

Did you mention any filtration? And what exactly are your water parameters?

100 gal tank, fx5 bio balls/ceramic rings, diy rubbermaid sump bio balls w/PVC overflow, powerhead, air bubbles, ideal perameters. But, no heater yet :(.

Ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite readings? Also, how often do you do maintenance on your filtration?

0ppm good on both nitrate and nitrite.
temp is still at 78

hes looking a little better(swimming, eating), scales still raised a little.
i notice that his lateral line is getting dull in color and he stills swims at an angle.

i have a little more melafix, should i get stronger medicine?
If i cut his gill covers now, will it do more harm than good?
