It will tint the water blue and stain silicone and other decor. It may fade in time. Small price to pay to possibly save the fish.

Thanks very much Deadeye Deadeye and twentyleagues twentyleagues !

Ichthyophthirius Multifiliis is the most common parasite in the aquarium hobby by far. Anyone who has kept fish for any length of time has had to deal with it at some point. As for keeping fish in general, the setups do often cost more than most people think they will, especially when first getting started. Once the initial part is over though it is pretty much smooth sailing. Just stick to a regular feeding and water change schedule and you'll be good to go.

During this medication? how many times per week shall I change the water and if I change the water should it be 50% or more? I had already removed the carbon filter media from the aquarium before putting the medicine. added salt 2 grams for every liter. I do not see any sign of improvement today is the second day since i started medication.

Someone told me to raise the temp to 86 F. should I do that? wouldn't this high temp kill the fishes?

That temp is safe for the fish. Raising it speeds up ich life cycle allowing it to die faster. Don’t water change until it says you should. For example, many medicines say leave in for 3 days or for a week and do a wc after then.

If you are medicating the fish, there is no need to raise it to 86F. You can keep it at the normal temp above 75F. You only need to raise it to 86F if you are doing the salt dosing of 3ppt.

Medication does not kill any ich on the fish. It only kills ich swimming up to the fish after hatching from the substrate.

I’d change if the nitrates get over 20ppm. It takes some time for improvement. Won’t be better in a few days. Gotta wait it out.
