Please help me my fishes act strange and may die.

Should I clean these now, or whenever I change the water? will they be a risk to my fishtank?

I have some vegetarian plecostomus catfishs in the tank and with using medication, can I still give them vegetables such as Squash? I am just worried that If I put the Squash in the tank that has medication in it, medication make the Squash poisonous. Can I still feed Plecos Squash while the tank is being medicated?

Plecos can still be fed. What species? Many are more carnivorous than you think, but you can still put their food in. No different than still feeding your puffers bloodworms.
You can vacuum out the worms, but it’s not really necessary except during the water change, as you don’t want to risk messing with the medicine concentration.

the are normal Hypostomus plecostomus and they sometimes eat the leftovers of puffers as you rightly pointed. so if i just feed them meat is that okay? or I must also feed them veg?

I tested the water of tank today and here are the readings
test for ammonia shows <0.05ppm
test for nitrite shows 0.4ppm
test for nitrate shows 3ppm


and the test for tab water shows
0ppm ammonia
0ppm nitrite
0ppm nitrate


it looks like I introduced the fish too early to the tank which is currently also under medication. the nitrite is high i think, but I do not see any sign of stress on fishes. what should I do now to decrease the level of nitrite. should I buy bottled bacteria again? should I do a 50% water change? can you please help me with your knowledge?

These guys will eat anything. You can continue the current routine. I should mention that these guys get huge and outgrow a 32 very fast. They need to have at least 180. Bristlenose plecos are a good alternative, they stay small.

I’m not the best with cycling, but the only way that I know to safely do a fish in cycle is with daily water changes (this of course would make the medicine annoying to use). Adding a bottle of dr. Tim’s bacteria isn’t necessary but wouldn’t hurt imo.

I am not good with identifying the species. attached is the photo. maybe it is Bristlenose and not Hypostomus

can you tell from photo which one is it?
