my silver arowana is very weak and can barely swim on its own.. the story goes like this.. this morning i took it out to clean my tank.. i put the fish in a bag full of water and then in to a bucket... i carried on to cleaning my tank then later on decided to buy 2 more arowana's i put the two new ones in and forgot about my silver arowana.... it was in the bag for about 4 or more hours.. i assumed the water got cold so the arowana started to get weak and turn upside down.. i put it back into the tank and it couldnt hold itself up..... now im afraid its going to die and i tried to keep it alive and breathing but it hasnt gotten better.. i tried moving it forward to recirculate the water through its gills.... but so far nothing is improving.... i really need advice and suggestions on keeping it alive and getting it back to its original healthy state....

Why would you take the fish out when cleaning? There's your first problem. Not much you can do for the fish, the damage has been done...

when i clean my tanks i dump all the water out .... put the gravel aside and scrub the algae.... then i put the gravel back in.. then fill it with new water..... then put the fishes back.... isnt that the right way?

Did you feed him that morning?
Did you bag him up with the tank water or regular tap water?
How are the two new arowanas doing?
How big of a tank is this?
Water parameters?

Some quick questions for ya and see if anyone can help.

Edit- NVM all your fish a basically going to die....that is NOT the right way and I personally lost 3 of my silvers due to my newbieness by doing the same thing you did. How are the two other arowanas doing?

IMO if the first silver was bagged with the old tank water, he would have a better chance of surviving than being in a tank with all new tap water with no beneficial bacteria what so ever....

No, no it isn't...instead of having me type out the whole process, you might want to search it on Google...

aww man.... yea im very new to this.... ive changed the water like this several times.. and they seem to be fine.... just this one time i was so stupid to forget about my original one.... the two new ones are just swimming around...... i have a 40 gallon tank..... i did try to find how to clean a tank on google.. but its not specific enough... so can you guys help me out by giving me the steps to take ..... since im a newbie.... i need experienced people that have been through this to help me out so i dont risk the death of my arowana's...... these ones weren't cheap either...

Wow, if you don't know how to take care of an arowana, or clean your own tank, don't get the fish. First, get a python water changer or a syphon. Drain a percentage of the total tank water- but not all of it. While you're at it, get a bigger tank. :)

I have to ask....why would have have bought an arowana before you even knew how to do water changes?!?! Its too bad something had to die just cuz you didn't research a bit more before taking on such a responsibility.
