we've already been over this, its a cyprinid, not even remotely related to white perch

They do look like goldfish. I just can't believe we caught 2 of these in 1 day, and never caught them before.

Carassius Carassius and Carassius Auratus are very similar. I however dont think that this one is a carassius carassius for two reasons,

#1) i cannot find any information showing that there are wild carassius carassius where this one was found, but i do know that there are wild carassius auratus in the system.

#2) Carassius Carassius have 33 or more scales on their lateral line; Carassius Auratus have 31 or less. I count 32 in my photo.


CC juveniles also have a black spot on the caudal peduncle, the CA does not.
