I don't plan on eating my fish, so hikari is fine w/me, when I get evidence otherwise that it's bad, I will change.
Hikari makes great food, and unless you plan on adding milk to it and eating it like cereal, i dont see the problem, it's for the fish, not you.

Humm.... Waiting.

In all seriousness, I can believe that MSG might be bad for fish, but such an assertion needs some sort of evidence.

very good...very scientific approach...:screwy:

anyway i found one with MSG...

Sinking Wafers®

Ingredients: fish meal, wheat-germ meal, wheat flour, alpha starch, soybean meal, fish oil, dried seaweed meal, krill meal, dried bakery product, brewer's dried yeast, spirulina, enzyme, astaxanthin, garlic, DL-methionine, monosodium glutamate, vitamins and minerals including stabilized vitamin C

:nilly::nilly::nilly: That's what I feed my catfish!!!:nilly::nilly::nilly:
I don't think anyone should stop buying their products, though. (unless they have the urge to eat fish food to see what their fish are so happy about)
:topic:BTW- has anyone ever wondered what catfood tastes like?

Now that you mention it, the large floating pellits would kinda look like coco puffs...

Thanks for the warning, MSG causes migraines, stomach problems, and bladder problems for me- also hives in larges doses (i.e. Chinese food). I don't want to even touch the stuff enough to feed it to the fish.

I don't think there is research on if it is or isn't harmful to fish, but I would like to err on the side of caution. I personally feed OSI food, per reccomendation of the LFS, but have considered Hikari. I just don't think that if it did cause headache, stomach problems, etc. my fish would be able to tell me.;)

My mom used to catch me eating catfood all the time when I was like 3 or 4...apparantly it is quite palatable to a toddler.

I tried it once, just to see... not bad, but nothing special either :werd:

Thanks JenTN for at least partially agreeing with me.

Just to reiterate...NOT ALL have MSG....

http://www.hikariusa.com/tropical_items.htm

so far when i looked, Algae Wafers, Sinking Wafers, Micro Pellets and Micro Wafers HAVE MSG.

Food Sticks, Sinking Carnivore, Massivore Delite and Discus Bio-Gold HAVE NO MSG...

the original poster should really have been more careful in dispensing information like this...
