I'm using an 802 ph to power a fbf.The 802 has an extra hole on the side of the discharge tube.what can i use to plug it,so that i get more flow into the filter?

Do you mean the hole that is on the top and where it discharges water? If you are talking about that, you can put an airline tubing into it and it will discharge more water.

I have several 802 powerheads.

Yes, i believe that's the hole. It's the one that goes off 90* from the main discharge tube. What I want to do is plug that hole,so that i can force more water through my fluidized sand filter.I'm hoping that i can just plug it with something while it's running so that i don't have to take it out and silicone it and wait hours for it to dry. That's the only pump i have for the filter.

I don't know if this is what you want but you can put airline tubing inside that hole and make sure the airline tubing is above the water level and the powerhead will increase its power on shooting out water. You can cap the airline tubing on the top end with somthing that fits. You should not use a long airline tube.

If your powerhead has a lot of wear and tear, the water shooting out may not be that strong.

using the airline actually decreases the flow.

LOL, I love these boards. I have been running powerheads for more than 10 years and people are telling me that I do not know what I am talking about. Well, if you want more power, put an airhose on it because when you buy a powerhead brand new, it comes with an airhose with an adjuster to adjust the power on a powerhead. If you leave it without an airhose, you will get less power.

A question I ask myself, do you own any powerheads? I run about 12 powerheads on 5 of my fish tanks. A airhose are on all of them because thats when you get the most power.

And another thing, if you put an airhose in the hole, leave the airhose uncapped that is when you get the most power. Have the airhose above the water level and not too long.

I get the most power from my powerheads this way. I see the water gushing out rather than the water staying still.

that hole is made for an airline to inject air into the water stream as bubbles , it will decrease the flow of water , I actually capped mine with an expandable foam earplug used in factories for hearing protection , squeese it and stick it in , it will expand and seal the hole , not too deep though
