poison dart frogs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Those frogs in the pics are turq and bronze auratus.

Before you even think of getting the frogs you may want to try keeping fruit flies for a few months and making sure you can keep them alive.

They are easy to culture but not always easy to keep alive.

Misters are not really necessary but can be used some people swear by them.

PDF are not good swimmers. A deep water section is not really ideal for them.

have you seen the link or suggestions that people have posted a few times.

www.dendroboard.com

You need to spend quite a bit of time there reading. And when you think you have read enough read some more.

They are not the easiest thing to take care of. Research needs to be done and then done again. DO not jump into it lightly like with the Basiliks the frogs are a lot less forgiving.

...i am going to look into these...

You cna do a water feature, but put rocks in there so the water isnt very deep at all...they may be frogs, but they arent good swimmers...ecspecially if they fall from a limb into a deep section, and nothing to pull themselves out

You'll read plenty of detail about how to keep a fruit fly culture rollign smooth as you do the suggested reading about Dart Frogs ;)

How do you keep the plants furtilzed? With my chinese water dragon I have to rotate the plants out to keep them fed because it could get poisened from the furtilizer. So how do you up keep the plants in the viverium with pdf's?

You DONT need to use "furtilizer" of any kind with a animal like that and neither people with dart frogs do. If the plants your using do need some nourishment, water them with the waste water from your dragon water basin or directly with its waiste, its better then any thing you can ad to the soil. For dart frogs is just the same.

wow, thanks I didn't even think about that. Can't you also use water from a freshwater fishtank?

I would say its ok but because water dragons are very sensitive to some bacteria use only "clean" water, not filter waste. Better to use its own waiste water and your fine, of corse make shure the dragon cant contact with it at least directly, so water only a litle. What kind of plant is it?
