That pic with the discus really annoyed my discus breeder friend lol, he hates polys now :p

I must admit I have become very scared of polys with other fish
Couple weeks ago my son had to move his male mantilla ray who is about 35cm.. maybe more, as he was harassing the females terribly
Ray was always extremely active playing in the bubbles etc..
Once moved to the community tank with the poly, he was very subdued and unhappy, but at first we thought he was sulking.. he was eating
About a week later, he walked into the house to find ray swimming frantically around and poly holding onto his tail and biting it....
Maybe its just the odd one that does that but.. I don't trust them anymore...

what type of poly?

is it just me but are most bichir crimes committed by ljs?

Not all but alot. One of my dels decided to grab a syno a couple days ago. My first thought wasn't "oh! I need to get this on film." It was I gotta get the syno away from him. The del wasn't real happy with me hoisting him up outta the water but made him drop the syno. I said you snatched a syno I snatched you, there's always someone bigger waiting......
Probably saved both their lives at least the syno.

It's a shame when the poly completely swallows the fish it's biting rather than spit it back out. I really hope some of the fish in the polys' mouths survived!

That's a real shame - I have been housing a 7' endli with a 2' senegalus for about a week now. They're getting along fine. I assume it's because I'm keeping them well fed. Interestingly enough, when I first introduced the senegalus into the tank, the endli gave it a few sniffs (it had many opportunities to gobble the senegalus up) but declined to chomp down. I'd like to think that polys wouldn't eat their own if given a choice/are well fed.

Of course other hobbyists here may have differing experiences :)
