Polypterus ornatipinnis eggs, what to do?

how come baby ornates have those little spiky things near their gill slits ? O.O

That is external gills, so they can breathe better...
 
Thanks for the advice will definetly try that there are'nt a lot in our area may have to buy a groip of young ones and grow them up also would fake plants work as good as real or are real the best way to go and do you give yours lots of caves or other hiding places.

I don´t have any artificial caves in my tanks. I only have roots and plants and they together makes natural hidingplaces. I don´t know if the fishes care if the plants are fake or not, but i don´t like fake stuff in tanks, like fake plants and ships and other toys. Toys are for kids NOT for fishes! If you want to breed, try to get as natural inviroment as possible. Natural inviroment=> natural behavior=> spawning.
 
That makes common sense can probably find the plants you mentioned and we have some root like driftwood to use thanks for all your help I guess I just have to start collecting Orates now good luck with yours will watch for [rogress reports on them.
