I have read about diet of bichir. However since I am thinking of switching from live feeders to non-live is it okay for them to have beef heart as their main diet?

yes u can all so give them silver sides and pellets.

I don't think i can get them silver sides. But pellet will do is just that he is not trained to eat pellet though..

i feed beefheart 2 my polys but not as main food u can try 2 find smelt at market instead of silversides u can also try fish fillet, shrimp, mealworms and earthworms

My polys are eating pretty much just prepared foods. Do they really need live to thrive?

I will try to give him fish fillet and beef heart. I don't know what is smelt though..

I got him feeding live as his staple food.. Not eating pellet.. So I will try to train him to eat prepared food.

no not at all feeding non live only reduces the chances of tankmates eating tankmates IMO
