I will try to give him fish fillet and beef heart. I don't know what is smelt though..

smelt is a small fish sold whole in packages by the pound they're 4 people alot like silversides but a lil bigger and alot cheaper

you should also try some hake or any fleshy sea food,i feed my poly's pretty much anything i find a my sea food market apart from processed items. I wud also advise that you should try to get them on a pallet as there stable diet and other foods as treats, do get the hikari food range by you, i feed my polys the massivore pellet as there stable diet.

Yes it is , but i wud not starve my fish i got most of fish to eat pallets with mixing the pallets with lance fish and hake and then slow reduce the amount if hake/lance fish, with time them will learn that the pallets are food and will eat them. most of my polys eat pallets only 3 naughty ones dont, but with time they will

Just an update. It's been 7 days and still my ornate is not eating. But sometimes he wanted to give it a try but refuses his mouth to open. Any more tips to fasten up his training? Thanks

I give mine frozen crickets, its floating on my tank but my bichirs still loves it.

Stop putting food in the tank for a day or two. Then try again. He will eat when it is ready. It will be fine without eating for a couple weeks so dont worry so much.

try not putting food into the tank for a day or two, then put some pallets in at nite and leave it just a few , check in the morning what happened to them, he shud be coming around now, . Let us no what happens.
