Hey all, haven't been chatting too much lately but I've been lurking. Just wanted to ask you all if you had any ideas for keeping fish alive during potentially extended power outages. With Irma bearing down on my area it's a very real possibility that power might be lacking for a pretty long while.
I've not been able to get ahold of a battery operated pump, LFS's have been sold out and Amazon screwed me with their "guaranteed" delivery not shipping when promised. I guess the polys have a chance since they're obligate air breathers.
My plan at the moment:
Move media into the main display tank once it becomes clear power will be out for a while (and after the UPS fails). Once storm passes hopefully we have water pressure and I can do water changes to attempt to alleviate ammonia buildup in the tank, even if we're under a boil notice fish should be pretty resilient to the kinds of creepy crawlies that typically end up in the water (right?).
I dunno, trying to do the best I can to keep this guys alive, any tips are welcome!
