Polys in the Storm!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Zilch Zilch I ordered $100 worth of bubblers from amazon prime....but they haven't gotten here yet. If we need to evacuate....I might do the bait bucket idea or put them in 5 gal buckets. Of course have to use a separate 5 gal bucket for the mean moke.
Did you like the bait buckets? How much do they cost?

kno4te kno4te suggested to move my tank away from the windows. Trying to decide what to do after that.if I want to try to take it with me or leave it here.

Stay safe poly friends.
Actually the only thing I could find was a bait bucket lid with bubbler attached but they could work for basically anything. The one on the lid takes d batteries but Dick's had little ones that were cheaper and eat double as, which are MUCH easier to find than ds.

Not sure what the heck we're going to do if there's an evacuation in my area, but we're pretty far inland so it's pretty unlikely

Not good for me to evacuate. The roads are so clogged. Will hold out and see last minute but I doubt will get far if I evacuate.

Hmmm. There's a dick's in my area. Will have to check that out.thank you for the tip! Polys are definitely a priority

Hopefully you won't have to evacuate. I'm in north central florida(Gainesville), but am kinda worried about my house cause it has a lot of windows. Guess we all just will have to wait and find out what happens.

Larger polys can get by without DO... Juvies will need bubbles/circulation.

Thankfully none of my guys have gill stalks anymore, they're all pretty big at this point and should be good with surface air, I'm more concerned with not having any nitrogen cycle going on due to lack of water circulation around the media, hoping the weak little bubblers help facilitate some flow through the media if I put them underneath =/

I'm about an hour north of Miami (West Palm Beach), so we'll be softening up the storm for you clm08k clm08k !

Good luck everyone! Polys have survived for millennia, let it continue ;)

I think some prime would be useful for ammonia

I was thinking about this too since it might affect Atlanta. Whenever the power you'd out, I throw hydrogen peroxide and potatoes into a bottle, poke a few holes in the lid, and wedge it between the driftwood. It reacts with the potatoes and releases O2.

That's pretty cool
