That sure looks like a dog bite. :(

I'm sure Nudge will heal in no time, the saying about cats having nine lives is close to true! Does Nikkita live with you? If not, I would ban him from the house. While Pit Bulls aren't the evil killing machines some make them out to be, they are very strong and prone to rough play - even if raised in a loving environment.

Get well soon, Nudge!

i lost a cat a long time ago to stray dogs running down the street..both met up with each other.. and in a flash i lost my sweet cat.. who's fault was it.....................mine and mine alone... the cat should not have been out roaming........... who elses fault was it................. the owner of the dogs.................... who ever they were........... we are the ones responcible for our pets... it is not the pets fault ...it is their nature.. if not trained or brought up with each other... you cannot expect anything but trouble..but this case i think the dog was overly zealous at play... he does not realize his strength and power...

sorry to hear this Nic, hope he pulls through. i would hate the dog too, but its not his fault. and for those attacking pit bulls, any breed of dog could have done this. no need to alienate the pit bull breed

Poor kitties i hope they both make a full recovery.

Mine is fully recovered now. Just as sweet as she can be. She was always a little skittish before, but now she hides under the bed when she hears the neighbors dogs.

Awww poor kitty, just thank god you found the injurey in time. As Liz said if that pitt really wanted to kill him it would have, so it was just probley some rough play. Get well soon Kitty.

Awww hope he feels better, antibiotics should help. As has been said, it is NOT the dog's fault, it is the fault of whatever person thought it would be alright for the cat and dog to play together, or be together unsupervised. Now I know, I know, some cats and dogs get along very well, but a dog just being playful and playing exactly how it would with another dog could seriously injure a cat. If it was an attack, it would be MUCH worse.
I have seen friends of mine let their large and very friendly and docile dog (lab) play with their kitten, and I was horrified - yes, the dog was playing very very nice with the kittie, and they were clearly both just playing around, not trying to hurt one another, but the dog could easily play just a bit too rough, or bite just a bit too hard, and the kitten would be gravely injured.

Poor cat, like it has been said - it is a good thing you found the injury before it got a lot worse. Glad to hear the cat will bo ok, its a very nice looking cat =]

On the other hand though, if it was the dog, you cannot blame the dog. It has instincts and it plays. Many dogs play rough and have more strength then they probably realize. I try to keep my dog away from animals smaller then her, while she gets along with small animals, she has a strong bite that I am afraid will hurt another small dog or other animal. I dont blame her for having a strong bite and not realizing it. I just simply dont let her around small animals. Just because an animal did something you dont like or you hate it for, even if it bit your cat (which I'd be pretty pissed to) it is not an excuse to go put the animal down, it was probably an accident - if it intended to kill the cat it would have. Things happen, animals have insticnts and you have to understand that. A dog is not an animal to just go dispose of when it does something that displeases you. I would hate the dog to but I wouldnt want to kill it. Instead of killing it why not tell your brother in law to keep his dog at his house and you keep your cat at your house and dont let them play anymore.
