I'm purchasing a piece of acrylic to seal off the bottom and getting rid of that ugly stand. That way I can set it on a stand, and the whole thing will be completely viewable.
Yah, so I got out there yesterday morning (an hour drive each way, with my gas guzzling jeep pulling a 16' trailer), and the tank was not what he told me it was. Yah, it looked like it did in the pic, but he told me on the phone the piece of acrylic was 35" tall, and sat way down inside the stand. Well, when I got there, the acrylic is actually only about 12" tall, and is 2 half circles welded end to end to create a cylinder. It also was in much worse condition than it looked. I decided I didn't want to waste $100 on a crappy 12" high acrylic circle that probably wouldn't hold water, so I walked from the deal.
Kind of disappointed (I had such great plans for that tank), but oh well. I found a 220g (glass) with stand for $200 today. The guy says it needs to be resealed, but I'm good at that, so I'm thinking about offering $150 (he really wants to get rid of it).
Well, I wouldn't have minded the drive out so much if he hadn't obviously lied to me over the phone. If he'd told me the truth it would have saved both of us the hassle.
