Make sure your woman isn't the jealous type.
True.:ROFL: How many news articles by tabloids have already been published about women killing their spouses' fish?:WHOA: Not all women are like that but a few can be.

Some plecos are carnivorous.

Common Plecos are Omnivorous .. As they get bigger.. and yes they will outgrow a 55! can and will hunt their tankmates! :WHOA: So spending abit more on that "fancy pleco" might be worth the lil' bit more initial investment and research!

Here are a few facts we can try on for size.;)

1. Ich does not "magically" appear out of nowhere. It has to be introduced via unquarantined and infested fish and accessories to appear suddenly as outbreak.

2. Some treatments designed for fish are carcinogenic particularly the commonly available malachite green and formalin.

3. Salt will not harm your bottom dwelling fish contrary to popular beliefs. You do need to remember that dissolution is the most important step as the grains can indeed burn their skin if applied recklessly.

4. Mycobacteriosis is responsible for some cases involving granuloma in humans.

5. Goldfish do not stay small. Still thinking of getting them fishbowls?

6. Cutting back on food rations influences the population of "pest" snails.

7. Bacterial infections particularly columnaris are far more common than most people think.

8. Iodine does not harm the fish contrary to popular beliefs so there is no reason for you to freak out when you use iodized table salt. The percentage of iodine in it is far too small a concentration to be detrimental to the fish.

9. Stress is one of the growth inhibitors.

the only things that can live in tanks under 5gals are bettas and dwarf puffers.

I bet I can name 20 things that can live in a 5 gallon other than those.

Agreed, :nilly:

Cool, now we can plan on seeing this as a thread:D

the bigger the tank you get, the bigger the tank you want.

similarly the bigger the pond you dig the bigger the pond you want.

Which brings me to my next fact. You must always please your jealous spouse when in this hobby. Remember your fishes life depends on it .

Aggression depends on the individual fish.

However, a breed is usually true to their reputaion.

Figure 8 puffer fish are poisonous if eaten by other fish. Death is very fast :(
