It almost looks like that pump pushes water into the pool filter....?
Explain a little more here please.
 
What about putting the pothos into a floating basket from Home Depot and then into your sump? Then you can put a light on a timer near the sump so the pothos has enough light. With a filter sock setup like yours with the top of the sump open, you could easily do that.

Because the roots to my pothos plants would smother the whole sump.
I would have to raise the water level more than i would like in the sump.
THe roots would clog the pump.
I dont want a bunch of algae growing on my ceramic media.
And if I add another tank into the loop for my pothos it increases my over all water volume.

Yes the pump (Reeflo Dart gold) pushes water from the sump into the pool filter packed with k1. The pump is so strong that after it pushed the water through the pool filter, the water then directly goes from the pool filter into the tank. My turnover rate is pretty high...

Very cool.
So one pump is running the sump and k1/pool filter?
