Im not instigating anything i just think that some people go a little overboard on this website just becuase they can type whatever they want.

Ive been yelled at for having a baby oscar in a 55 gallon tank. Thats just rediculous.

I am all for positive comments but when its 5 pages of bashing a guy for keeping a fish it gets a little outrageous.

It's only 5 pages of bashing becuase people like you try to defend actions that are unhealthy for the animals they claim to care for.

Baby oscar in a 55 shouldn't be a concern for anyone. Full grown oscar in a 55 then you deserve to be yelled at.

Baby black tip in a 300, would work out great. Mid sized adult (3-4') in anything less than 10,000 gallons and again you should be yelled at.

3' Nurse shark in a tank that is only 2' wide? Again, you deserve to be bashed.

The point is if you cannot house the adult sized animal at the time you acquire them, then you really have no business getting it in the first place.

Pulling a shark from a bad pet store and putting it into another tank that is too small didn't improve the situation at all. Two things happened at once, let's look at them constructively for educational purposes:

1) The shark is still in too small of a spot. That animal needs room to move. I believe the term is "out of the frying pan and into the fire".

2) The store just made money and was shown people will buy them, so they will more than likely try to sell another. Also, the store was able to sell an animal probably using misinformation. That is not only bad for sharks, but poor for ALL fish. The store not being held accountable for it's actions is an over alll detrament to the fishkeeping hobby.

If anyone ever uses an animal confined in a cruel space to "pick up women", they don't need to breed, but instead be taken out of the gene pool.

Thanks, I didn't have the energy last night to type all that.
To go along with point 2. You have to look at the big picture if you really want to try and improve the life of an animal. The fish store more than likely will just replace the shark you bought with another one. Now there are two sharks in a bad situation instead of one, even though yes maybe one is better off than the other if you compare them. But when you think about it, even though you have good intentions of saving the one shark, you are essentially just making room for another animal to be mistreated. And unless you can properly care for the one you bought, you are doing more harm than good, and like Matt said, the whole fishkeeping hobby suffers.

If you are just using that shark to brag in MFK and pick up chicks, than you also have no business owning that shark and don't see that animal for what it really is.

As far a bashing goes, I would just like to point out that this is the Shark and Ray section on Monster Fish Keepers. Of course you are going to take some heat when posting pictures of sharks in cruel conditions. What did you expect? People in this section actually know a thing or two about keeping sharks. Many of them have years of experience of successfully keeping sharks in captivity. So why you would choose not to take their advice is beyond me. I have learned so much from Matt(Zoodiver) and this website, and so could you guys if you would just set aside your ego for like 5 minutes and listen. If you just want to be praised and worshiped for having a shark, stick with the photo lounge.

The whole point of this website is to share information and learn. You have two choices.

1.) Learn from your mistakes, believe me when I say everyone has made them, myself included. It's the only way to move foreward and become a better fish keeper. Embrace the criticism, even though it may sound harsh. Most of the time it is appropriate for the mistake made.

2.) Or......Ignore everything we are saying and don't prosper as a fish keeper. Your choice.

End of rant.

im sure the people of mfk who started this all up would be proud of your bashing for a person is trying ... whatever i dont get and all you people dont ruin my day but i see how many people aree unhappy with me

We are here to help. You are doing something wrong - and it was pointed out. Don't blame us for not being able to take care of something properly. Your best course of action (if you do care) is to take the animal back and demand a refund. Then let everyone in the store know that is not a good shop. If you really want a nurse shark, build a set up for it..... then look for someone who can't handle the shark they bought b/c they didn't know what they were doing...just like you did. Just be prepared for a 14 foot or more shark that will need a lot of space, major filtration and massive amounts of food.
