i'll be in the minority here saying that you are a good fish keeper. Guys on this website are gonna flame you unless you have him in a 5000 gallon or bigger. 400 gallons is plenty for that nurse. When some guys see that photo they are going to have a pavlovian response and tell you need thousands of gallons. Its like when I put my black tip in a 560, I got flamed, but he was in a 300 for a year before that, so I basically doubled his swimming capacity.
Would he be happier in a 10000 gallon tank? Yeah, but I don't have $50,000 to spend on a tank like that. He is far happier in my 560 than he was in that 300, thats all i know.

Yeah, I hope you were not meaning that the 400 would be good for it's whole life.

A 400 gallon tank may be ok for keeping a Nurse as a small pup(about 3' long or less) - but certainly not for life. A 5,000 gallons tank won't work for keeping an adult Nurse for life - although it would work for keeping a Nurse up to 5-6' in length. To keep an Adult Nurse for life - you need a pond/lagoon that is at least 20,000 gallons - anything less it too small. While some people may disagree with me. Consider the fact that the Nurse will average 8-10' as an adult, and weight 200-300 lbs. So it needs a large tank to swim around in.

Like wise - keeping a blacktip reef in a 560 gallon tank is bad. Even a newly born Blacktip reef needs a pond of at least 10' diameter(1,000-1,200 gallons) to last a year in. A 6.000 gallon pond/lagoon would be enough to keep a Blacktip Reef in until it reeachs sexual maturity or about 3.5' long. A full grown adult Blacktip Reef needs a tank/lagoon of at least 20,000-25,000 gallons.

the bottom line is these sharks are to big for the home and should be left in the wild and trying to keep them is not practical i mean this guy is a nob what is the point off having the shark if you will never be able to house it properly ???

So I clicked on this link to see some monsterfish and i was very much dissapointed. I had to sit here and read about how inhumane the living conditions were for this shark that looked healthy to me and seemed to be living a good life. Now I am no expert but i would say that if the Shark was in a tank that was as small as you guys were saying it would of died a long time ago.

And just for the sake of the post could someone please post some more monsterfish pictures instead of trying to be the hero and tell this guy where he went wrong in life by just making a post.

And one more thing~ dude thats a badass shark. I think you should post some more pictures.

the point is he will not be able to house it later so whats the point in having it when he will have to sell it later or it will just live a cramped ****y life then die.

Ok so he stated that he had arrangments made for the Shark with his friend. Did you read that or just make an assumption like the rest of the people that posted here?
