just keep the one if thats what you want, i had one alone till he got 6" and then added six more. i wish i would have stayed with just the one though, they constantly chased each other around nipping fins and such, which is normal. but personally not much fun to watch myself. next time im getting a single black!:naughty:

I'm a great big softy, and I don't want him to be lonely. But like I've said, I don't want many either. lol

I'm so indecisive. I could save us quite a bit of money if I only kept one though. I think I want more than one though....DANG THIS INDECISION!!

Oh, BTW, Whiplash does NOT approve of carrots!! I was feeding my pleco, and he thinks that ball of food belongs to him, and it's all veggies!! I did throw in a little bit of sliced Bass meat until Brian gets home with some fish or shrimp for him.

I'm thinking I'm going to get 3, if I don't like having that many later on, I could always get rid of some, right?

My dad doesn't know I have Whip, and in giving me a month in which to prove to him I can handle taking on 1 more critter. So, it looks like my bedroom door will be locked!!

A 10 gallon tank is way too small for a 3 inch Piranha and you definitely cannot put them in with your goldfish, unless you want to feed your goldfish to the Piranhas. You need it least 20 gallons for each fish for them to be somewhat comfortable for life. As far as them being carnivorous, Yes they most definitely are.

not going with the goldfish, read the thread. she is looking for a new goldfish tanks so her rbp's can go in her 75g.

46 gallon = 12 RBPacues?
i'm sorry but i saw this in ur sig also. . . . does that say
"46 gallon tank, 12 red belly pacu???? " grow
i dont want to ruin this thread tho, if u post someting in the thread just answer it.

I've decided that for the time being, I'm just keeping my goldies in their 75, and getting him a 29 gallon. Found one for $33 at Meijer's. I'm going to get a special made plexiglass lid, and seperator for when I need to do tank work.

I can't find plastic nets any where....Does anybody know where I can find some?

I FINALLY went into our new fish store in town this evening and they had my baby!! lots of them. For twice what I paid for Whiplash.

I also got to see some Pacus about the size that Whip will get, and a tinfoil barb. I asked if they were hiring, and I was sad when he said no...

That job would have been PERFECT!!

They had puffers galore too!! I wanted to take them all home with me!!:D

Plus, I found some awesome looking pieces of driftwood for his tank when we set it up.

I did get some catfish filets for him while I'm transistioning him to pre-deadified foods.

I'm definately getting some larger tetras though, and keeping my 10 gallon ready for when the tetras become bite sized.

I almost had a disaster earlier, I bought him a new thermometer, and the heater had the water at 96*!!! I took the cup he came home in, filled it twice with ice, and started putting it in the filter, and in the tank itself, that cooled the water down bit by bit. I was so worried that I was going to lose him!!

:goldfish:

I kept a lone black for 15 years before losing him to a filter failure. A 40 breeder would have been a better choice than the 29. especially for keeping a trio but I wish you all the luck in the world...

After 'jaws' passed on a couple years ago I switched to big cats but I still have a soft spot for monster blacks...
