yea my buddy ( GF's brother ) has 3, well had 3. one got mauled by the other 2. i hear even #'s is critical for keeping p's, that way theres not an odd one out for them to tag up on,


EX:
1 - alone no one to tag up on
2- agression on eacher
3- 2 vs. 1, 8 of 10 times one will get killed by other 2
4- no one is left out
5- theres an odd one out, will get beaten on possbally death
6 + usally good idea if large areas are avaible.

I'm already going to have cutouts in my walls for my tanks, and someday, I hope to have my own private beach, in a heated polebarn!! Of course, this will probably have to wait until I'm famous, but it's a good idea to work on!!

So yea, there's going to be a shallow to deep inground pool, and corals, and seahorses, and stuff like that, and a beach going TO the pool, and I'll turn my hermit crabs loose in there!! It'll be fun! And you'll all be invited to come to my beach!! LOL

Seriously though, I've seen some awesome piranha tanks on here, that I would love to make for Whip when he's older!!

sushi what are you going to use for Decor for "whip"'s tank? is it just going to be 1 rbp in a 75? ( correct me hes going in the 75 or no? )

I'm probably going to put him in the 29 gal we're buying tomorrow.

I'm going to get some more plastic plants (I currently have 3), and maybe something big to hide in/around, and of cours, a silly little blue or pink tribal skull for the front.

Is there anything other than a hidey, and plants that I'll need? Maybe we'll get a pleco bigger than him at the petstore, he didn't seem to like the one we got him....

rbp's will nip at and ruin plastic plants, i would recomend live possbally?
( Ku-jo ( my rbp ) had fake plants in his tank. every day i would take leaves out of his tank and had no idea where they were comming from i thought it was just like a cheap pack of plants. but then i read online rbp's nip at fake plants. so i looked at the leaved almost all the leaves were bit in the middle and the other half was floating and thats what i was taking out of my tank)

i wouldnt recomend false plants.

i'd get drift wood, thats what i am doing with my tank. i am going drift wood all the way, and some low-light plants.

i dono if its just me or no i dono, but if i has gold fish and a piranha, and only had 2 tanks, on 75 and 1 30. i'd put the piranha in the 75. and the goldies in the 30 ( i would but another small filter for the 30 because goldfish r very messy ). . . . . . . same for the 75 piranhas are messy eaters.

Make sure it's a nice armored pleco, I woke up one morning to just a pleco head in my RBP tank...

I can't remember if this has already been gone over, but get floating plants to block some of the light such as...


amazon frogbit
duckweed (lemna minor)
hyacinth
water lettuce
red root floater
hornwort
riccia
salvinia species

Some of my goldfish are too large to fit in a 29 comfortably, and if it's only 1 RBP, when I get a job, I'll be able to get a bigger tank for the goldies, and upgrade whip to theirs.

I'll have to pick up some live plants then!! What color plants were you using? Green? Or multi colored? (I have glow in the dark blue and green)

This is probably because I've read quite a few places that RBPs will sometimes eat plants, just as a sort of add on to their diet.

Here's a question....

In the wild, carnivores get plant nutrients from the stomach of their herbiverous prey...how do you simulate that in the home aquarium? Is this why they get pellets/flakes? Or is this the reason Whip went after a veggie ball?
