Pregnant and not really eating?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have had rays stop feeding a few days before birth

When your think about it if your wife is in labour for 24 hours the last thing she wants is a big mac I think it's the gas and air she would rather have

motoro magic: The water is fine as I see it :) I change 50% every third day.

vamptrey: maybe she is but it's still not normal - as I can read - that she's not eating for so long time.

scott s: I'm afraid there's not enough space for a divider in there. None of them will have enough space to move around like they should. It's a 330 gallon.

I would still test every parameter as you do not know what is going on without a test. I appreciate 50% water changes are a lot but if the source water was high in nitrate or low in ph etc this could actually cause a problem.

Hope she eats soon and the pregnancy goes well.

Just Toby: The test (strips) I have says the water quality is "ok". If you say green, yellow and red it's green but sometimes close to yellow. But then again what can I do to make it better?

Get a liquid test kit, often times strip tests are inaccurate.

Dip strips are rubbish and dry out over time. As above get some new liquid or tablet tests. Test your tap water too. You need to know both and understand both, if not then ask here.

main way to get of nitrates is to do a wc. Other then that your option is to get some sw plants.

the main way to get of nitrates = water changes. Otherwise you'll have to get some salt water plants for your tank, plants in your aquarium will absorb nitrates and ammonia for themselves . If you are doing 50% water changes ever 3 days and are still getting high nitrates then you should test your water source with a test kit to see what the base nitrates are that are coming out of your sink. The main other reason I can think of that could be giving you high nitrates is that there is some decaying food in there, or you aren't vacuuming the sand well enough.

So I don't know that much about rays. This is a fw species? I googled it and I think it came out fresh water?
