Profitable fish to breed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd say that rays would be profitable after a while. They would pay themselves off and the profit would be pretty good! Angels are easy and if you get some high quality angels to pair up you could make a nice chunk of change

Someone mentioned clown loaches earlier they would be profitable but there are no documented cases of them spawning in captivity. That said it is still something I want to try and do. Electric blue jack Dempsey's are a good bet but will cost a little extra to get started on. Here in Alberta right now inch and a half juvies are selling for around 60 dollars each.

Belonsox are incredibly easy to breed and sell for a fortune on the rare occasion that you see them in the stores. They grow extremely quickly to 3+ " and are hardy.

They are nearly impossible to keep from breeding. It is my understanding that if two Belonsox of the same sex are isolated in a tank, one will transgender and they breed anyway!

My buddy makes 300-500 a month with his Red Texas breeding program

I think the worldwide market for Belonesox is probably 7 people...

Try the oil catfish? They max out at 4 inches and are really cool looking and rare. Another thing because of their small size you could breed them in a 20 long easily.
