i'm wondering what the dims of your 'monster tank' (the footprint). not to 'flame' you over it, but since you are documenting your 'progress' again i think that this info should be made public. atleast to keep your documentary accurate. otherwise the people that could 'learn' from this 'progress' can see what your tank was to 'accomplish' your 'amazing feats'.

it looks like a 125gal to me 72"x18". witch will work for now, but still highly recomend a larger footprint for your future '5 foot aro'. now that you have a more suitable house for the time being i highly suggest you take the time and spend some money on as much filtration as you can.

since i only plan to have 1 aro, the money will be spend on decoration.
filteration is more than enough for the job, i know its ugly but it is fit perfectly under 25 INCH WIDE inside the cabinet , had to custom fit the tub but its fit nicely in there with the door closed :grinno:

i dont have to measure it, that type of bucket when u stack it together will have the very same amount of volume at the buttom due to outer lips they each have.
which i think when it stacked u will have about 3-4 inches "empty" space at the buttom at every stack.

ahh, ok. i just wanted to know the how much filter media can be used in between the buckets.

The good thing with the bucket set u will have full bucket volume at the last bucket. That's where I put the bio media

Been watching my aro developement and noticed his right eyes starting to drop just like any other aro,
To my observation its got nothing to do with food but rather to its enviromental hence a tank, they do have very active eyes and in the tank there's not much to see on the surface with more dynamic vew below the eyes level. I know a lot of theory out ther about DE and nothing can be proved. But mine go with the enviromental the aro in, its due to their very active eyes especially on the silver species ad its prolly is applies to the black one since theyr r basically the same species and r almost identical.
At this age and early I'm sure its fixable by covering the tank wall completely but what's the point of having a tank in ur house LOL or give the aro a pond with no side viewing.
And I can't afford either one of both but surgery might be doable when he grew up

covering the sides will do nothing. i knew this resterant owner that had the sides covered for the aro to be calm due to the activity of the kids around it. the aro was well over 30" and had very strong de in both eyes.

as for some proof on the most direct cause of de. several other long term aro keepers and myself have seen it first hand several time were the aro will have blunt truma to the head and then almost instantly get de. my larger aro got de after jumping to the hardwood floor from my transport container. it was 8" at that time. if i remember right yours has jumped out before, might that have been the cause? if it was on the activity of the eyes/ environment it is in why don't blacks get it?

i must have missed that somewere.

In another thread, although, I don't think it looks anywhere near 220gallons...

Maybe a better FULL tank shot may help decide this...

he did jumped out once long ago prolly over 2 months ago, DE on his right eyes i noticed couple days ago, maybe he dashed out somewhere hit his head and dislocate his right eyes?
but it is what it is and i dont see any injuries anywhere else.
in the mean time i will work on solution i can afford atleast not to get any worse

tank size is only 240G long with 8x2x2 footprint, thats should be enough for 1 aro and this tank will be a little community tank and is still under construction.
