when i have biger tank, i will have live plants in it, so far i only have one live plant it..
i missed my chance getting 250G tank with everything for 100 bucks, it sold LOL
was too busy with my tank problem.
im treating my tank with salt now and bump the temp to 88..since i noticed ick with the aro :(

live plants aren't enough. you need a large canaster filter and i can't think of a better one then an fx5. it would help out with the tanks situation and help get you ready for the future.

beatting a dead hourse, but your aro wouldn't have ick right now if you would have just listened when you were first told what to do. i mean a lfs has a hard time getting an aro ick. salt is good and the higher temp, but get the filter as this filter of yours obveously isn't enough. it has been too long to be still having problems with the water. you need more filtration. on my 55gal setups i have always a min. of an AC75 AND an emperor 200. more is good.

I must admit that I have never, ever, seen an Aro wih ick

Just think once the new bigger tank comes, this arowana will have to suffer through another cycling process, because it's the way the OP does it.

Yeah I found it early enough, or too late depends how u see it .
There's couple white spot on the outside gill cover? And also on his upper fin.
My 2 bichers, BGK and chinesse algea eater seems to be ick free, it translate me the aro is the weakest fish in tank, they all juvies fish btw

just did a water test, water parameter gets better, looks like the one week deadline comes early :)

ph 6,8
high ph 7,4
ammo 0
nitrire 0.50
nitrate 5

You're almost there. But please, next time, wait until ammonia and nitrite are 0 before any fish even enter your tank.

set up a auto water changer keeps tank water pristine changes are made slow so no stress on fish. I use a 300 gal pond filet from home depot cost about $75 does a great job.

I wonder if the op would treat a 1000$ asian arow the same way he has treated this one?

And what exactly are you worried about the fx5?
I just quickly read through the last 5 pages and recall you saying something about you not risking damage to your house with a canister?
Thats the most ridiculous thing that I've ever heard.

Some people should not be alowed to keep fish, everyone loves looking/watching them but not everyone has the common sense to actually keep them.

Any fish can be called weak when it gets sick from being in bad conditions,
every fish is different and some can tollerate high ammo and nitrites better than others. It doesnt mean that they may not suffer long term effects but some just dont show problems right away.

overall things get better, everything is good and back on track, right now notice alot less white spots on aro but will proceed still with warmer temp to kill icks for good.
yes the aro is the weakest of species in my tank, BGK is supposedly the weaker i thought in every aspect. but they proved me wrong.
yes SA in the weakest fish in my tank, ick will attack the weakest fish in the tank once they established their kingdom they will attack others.
about fx5, yes im avoiding it, i know that product has good reviews here but i dislike cannister design after shopping for one at my LFS, they price wasnt bad too only $280 OTD..
the reason is just the design itself and i see leak with that kinda set-up, i would go make a sump pump set up instead with 2 or 3 AQ 110 for my future tank for back up.
and yes even if i have the asian aro i would treat it the same well maybe a bit better LOL
