When they start disappearing lol.

Long shot here but would putting one of those in a tank with two green terrors be safe ?

Thanks, he has eaten mussel and bloodworm, gonna be a greedy cat I'm thinking lol.
thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter whats your experience with growth rate pal, Are yours static at +-12" still?
They are superb feeders, very unfussy. That's true. In a decade that I've had mine, it even eaten a few 3"-4" koi when it was 1'.

Mine was ~1' after ~3 years and has not grown since then. They are the refuse from food fish farming operations in SE Asia. So I am not too surprised. Disappointed that it's a runt - yes. Surprised - no.

These days I've become more and more convinced that if a fish you have is farmed somewhere in the world, the chances are ~100% yours is a refuse - in terms of catfish they are IDS, paroon, channel, TSN, TSNxRTC, TSNxLei, walking catfish, C. gariepinnis, H. spilopterus fka nemurus, etc.

I think nowadays they go by Hemibagrus spilopterus, according to Silurus (on PCF) revision.

i do like the look of that fish but you guys make it sound like it will eat everything including stuff that moves no matter the size

Cheers tbtb, do some research terror g, they can be very nasty hence it being alone at Wildwoods.
In a huge tank aggression will be reduced but it's still a risk, definitely not a beginner species unless kept alone.
I'm expecting to lose fish in the 90g within a few days. I knew what I was buying when I left my house this morning as another member, follen was kind enough to inform me it was there.
Watch some of my videos on YouTube of my old wyckii (bigger nastier hemibagrus) to get an idea of their aggression.

Nemurus are supposedly more placid and generally get half the size but it's definitely not without risk when comming them.

I think I will keep to watching these fish on YouTube there lovely but don't have the experience. Thanks for the info and great fish again

I've read of them being problematic but mine has not been bad at all in my book with its tank mates.

Eating a couple of koi in 8 years doesn't count as "eating everything that moves". That came out of the blue and had never happened before nor happened after... with my specimen anyway although it lived with such small koi for 3 years in a 1500 gal pond.

Here is my guy with pics from 2010, 2012, and 2015 http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=36790&hilit=mystus
