P PYRU , just tagging you to catch up. I know your Congo was on a hunger strike for a while, did you do anything special? How long did it last?

The arrowhead is going on about two weeks now without eating. Has had feeder guppies in its tank for about a week, might be one missing. I was thinking of going and getting some small shore crabs (salt water) to try on it. It used to be a treat that it liked. I just hated the mess it made from tearing them apart.

That congo has nothing on the suvatti going on strikes. When 1st starting I'll tie something to fishing line etc etc. At this stage I'll try a few things, but honestly its survival of the fittest. When I couldnt get its clams during covid it didnt eat for a long time

Thanks P PYRU , I will just keep up the routine then. Go through all the motions of feeding then. A buddy suggested a larger feeder fish. Maybe a platy or molly instead of the tiny guppies. Will see how long this will go, lol

2 of the 9 guppies were gone but it wasn’t getting his interest. As much as I hated doing it, got 6 feeder goldfish to try and break him. Came in about an hour later and I am down to 5. So I got it at least eating something.

Well it's a start so that's good

Yeah after two weeks it ate something, feel bad it is a junk food goldfish. Normally it gets nightcrawlers and krill and it is quick to dart up when the tank lid opens but ever since the move and redecoration of its tank its been off its feed.

Current count is three goldfish, so its eating one a day at this point. even when given an opportunity to gorge with six fish in the tank, its being a dainty eater. And its not that the goldfish are quick or even smart. They have been grouped together right by him on numerous occasions, lol. At least the guppies had the sense to stay away from it when I had 9 of them in there.

I end this thread with the sad note that I just couldn’t break the fish of its newfound taste for feeders and its lack of interaction with me. Tried tong feeding and barely a response to krill. It stopped eating night crawlers and would not respond to tank lid opening as the feeding trigger. This fish was not the same fish anymore! So I sold it…

With the passing of my hairy puffer and now selling off my arrowhead, this is the first time Ive been pufferless in years. Need to find a replacement.
