proud of the hobby

I would call myself a nerd who happens to also have fish. 
i had a date yesterday and she came home and saw my tank she loves the oscar , she thinks it's a badas mtf and that mt arowa is king of the top , she looked for an hour to the fish , darn les time for me :d

i personally think it is a nerdy hobby.
but i love the science that comes with doing it right.
i think its a hobby that doesn't require a whole lot of intelligence but an understanding of biology especially when u get into breeding conditioning, gut loading and raising fry for example.
i also like the problem solving aspect of it. i like the set-up and filtration part of it all almost as much as the fish and that's when i think it gets nerdy, when the love goes beyond the fishes and into the system.
Am i a nerd in that respect? i think so. The jocks and lads that would call me a nerd haven't got the respect and understanding of the hobby. (thats probably true of a lot of hobbies. i even was into su-doku at one point).
My ex-girlfriend got fish because of me and still has them too.
i bet if u let one of those lads take care of ur fish for a week, 80% of them would go out and get an tank the next day.

Any hobby is nerdy...depend how far you're into it. I'll admit here that I'm a dweeb when it comes to this hobby.
