I also think that being alone in the tank, the fish will not color up. I'll be getting a 125gl soon, and would hope to get a female, except no one else has the same type. (Hybrid or not, that's the question)
Did you fish ever end up coloring up more? Did you ever get a response from livefishdirect.com? Mine has gotten a lot more red since I first got him. I still believe that he is a hybrid but he is in an all male tank and he looks nice so thats ok.
